SPECIFICATION AND FITUR SONY ERICSSON XPERIA X10 MINI PRO

SONY ERICSSON XPERIA X10 MINI PROSony Ericsson outs Xperia X10 mini and Xperia X10 mini pro.
Sony Ericsson's Xperia X10 mini, but frankly, the X10 mini pro here comes as a bit of a surprise. The sets are nearly identical with the exception of launch colors -- the mini will ship in black, pearl white, lime, pink, red and silver, while the mini pro features just black and red -- a minuscule size difference, and the pro packing a QWERTY keyboard. The X10 twins run Android 1.6 (though with the time to market gap we've come to expect from SE this could change) on a 600MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 and will ship in both North American and global 3G variants with quad-band EDGE, WiFi, Bluetooth, and a pack-in 2GB microSD card. As far as OS tweaks are concerned, Sony Ericsson's Timescape is being touted as a major feature that enables all your communications with contacts to be accessed in one place making it simple to access to call history, Facebook, Twitter, messaging, and the like. Four-corner control also gets a mention and is basically user-customizable shortcut icons placed -- not surprisingly -- in each corner of the device's 2.5-inch QVGA touchscreen display. Both phones' launch dates are set for sometime in Q2 this year.

SPECIFICATION AND FITUR SONY ERICSSON WALKMAN W995

SONY ERICSSON WALKMAN W995Review If you're a music mad, photo enthusiast, then Sony Ericsson has you in its sights with the W995 – its most advanced convergence of camera and music phone features to date. Featuring a Walkman media player and an 8.1Mp camera, the W995 also has HSDPA 3G, Wi-Fi, A-GPS and a new media sync system for Macs and Windows PCs.

Sony Ericsson's W995 Walkman phone
At first glance, this is a chunky little slider at 97x49x15mm and 113g but, considering what's stuffed into the W995, it's a fairly solid and compact package. The casing is pretty busy, with the central D-pad on the front surrounded by six buttons: call start and stop, cancel, shortcuts and two soft keys.
On the sides are music player controls, which proved to be easy to operate with the W995 tucked away in a pocket. There’s also a dedicated camera shutter button, a zoom rocker, a Walkman button, Sony Ericsson's standard two-pin Fast Port power connection and a 3.5mm jack plug, which is nice, but somewhat superfluous since an adaptor for the power plug also features a 3.5mm headphone socket and is included with the supplied earbuds.

Around the back is the lens for the 8.1Mp camera, LED flash and a small flip-up stand, so you can rest the phone on a table top while you're watching video. It's a little bit unstable, and only balanced well when the slider was open. The 2.6in, 240x320-pixel screen boasts 262,000 colours and is as clean and crisp as you could expect from an LCD this size.
There's really not a lot to choose between this camera and Sony Ericsson's latest C905 8Mp Cybershot number. We missed the Xenon flash, but it has auto focus and an image stabiliser, plus smile detection, BestPic, and a powerful 16x digital zoom. There’s no optical zoom, which is a shame, though not unexpected at this price, and to include one might have meant bulking out the camera further.
Not so hot in low light, but otherwise a good camera
The Panorama option let us down a little though – we found it a bit difficult to match up the three pictures – so the sample image looks like there's a bend in the road, but there isn't. Overall, the picture quality is very good. However, it struggled a little in lower light conditions, but only really suffered under close examination – the edges began to look a little fuzzy with occasional purple fringes. While it's quite up there with the very best of the 8Mp brigade, it's still a very good camera for a phone that focuses on music.

SPECIFICATION AND FITUR SONY ERICSSON W595

SONY ERICSSON W595the W595 at the proto stage, but this time it's the real deal - we have a retail unit on our hands and we are ready to put it through its paces. The differences from the preceding model, the W580, stretch further than a design overhaul. A 2.2-inch QVGA display and the 3.2 megapixel camera will surely make it a tasty treat even without all the Walkman goodies on board. With its modern looks and intriguing specs list, it's about time we saw what the Sony Ericsson W595 brings to the Walkman party.

Key Features:
Quad-band GSM and 3G with HSDPA support
2.2" 256K-color TFT display of QVGA resolution
3 megapixel camera
Bluetooth (with A2DP) and USB v2.0
Accelerometer sensor for display auto-rotate
40MB of internal memory and M2 memory card slot (2GB card included)
Walkman 3.0 music player with Shake control and SensMe
FM radio with RDS
Multi-tasking support
Smart dialing
Comfortable keypad, nice sliding mechanism
Stereo speakers
Dual 3.5mm Stereo Share jack on the headset cable

Main disadvantages:
Relatively smallish screen
The camera has no autofocus
Poor video recording capabilities
No lens protection or flash
No office document viewer
Cheapish battery cover
No video-call camera

The Sony Ericsson W595 is currently retailing for about 200 euro - which seems like a reasonable price - but a true evaluation demands a little digging and some comparisons.
Strangely enough, the Sony Ericsson W760 is really close sibling of W595. It currently sells for a bit less than the W595, but outperforms it with tri-band HSDPA support and of course, the built-in GPS receiver. The way the prices currently are, the W595 doesn't seem to stand a chance to the W760.
Again surprisingly, you can get the capable Sony Ericsson C902 Cyber-shot for the same price as the W595. It's got a nice slide-up cover over the 5 megapixel snapper, a bunch of touch-sensitive camera shortcuts and pretty similar multimedia capabilities.

SPECIFICATION AND FITUR SONY ERICSSON W508

SONY ERICSSON W508The Sony Ericsson W508 walks and talks midrange though by no means does it keep a low profile. What we have here is the full Walkman package at a bargain price and the rest of the W508 specs may as well be irrelevant if music is the first thing on your list.
A true Walkman at heart, the W508 takes after the Sony Ericsson W980 in many ways and even adds a dash of color to the Walkman experience - in fact, the StyleUp covers make it a regular chameleon.
There are eight StyleUp covers to choose from and the W508 always ships with a spare one in the box. And in case you wonder what's with all those paintjobs, let's not forget the W508 is in a twin predicament and has an identity to assert against the T707. That one we just reviewed, so we're sort of in for a sequel, though in Walkman flavor this time.

Key features:
Quad-band GSM and 3G with HSDPA support
3.15 megapixel camera
2.2" 256K-color TFT display with 240 x 320 pixel resolution
Secondary monochrome OLED external display
Scratch-resistant surface for both displays
Touch sensitive external music control keys
Hot-swappable M2 card slot (up to 16 GB), 1 GB included
Stereo Bluetooth (A2DP)
Walkman music player with Shake control and SensMe
FM radio with RDS
Gesture control
Accelerometer for screen rotation
Basic multi-tasking support
Smart dialing
Threaded messaging
Exchangeable StyleUp covers

Main disadvantages
Camera doesn't have auto focus or LED flash
Low-grade video recording (QVGA@15fps)
No web browser screen auto rotate
No document viewer

The Sony Ericsson W508 is a friendly phone that has many ways to interact with you - TrackID to find the track you've just overheard at the caf?, SensMe so you can pick songs based on your mood, Shake control to change tracks at the flick of the wrist plus touch-sensitive music buttons and even Gesture control to mute calls with a wave of your hand.
The proprietary audio jack and the single, lonely loudspeaker are points against W508 but support for 16 GB M2 cards and FM radio with RDS are guaranteed to keep you rocking from dusk till dawn.
3G goodies like video calls and HSDPA for high-speed browsing are here, complemented with the nice web browser. The lack of document viewer is a bit of a letdown but not really a feature a Walkman can't do without.
So without further ado, the Sony Ericsson W508 is in for a proper hardware inspection. Join us on the next page, as we go through our checklist.

SPECIFICATION AND FITUR SONY ERICSSON NAITE

SONY ERICSSON NAITEhe Sony Ericsson Naite (pronounced nigh-tay) has its roots sunk deep in Earth. Like the Samsung Blue Earth, the Samsung Reclaim, and the Motorola Renew, the Naite is billed as an eco-friendly phone. It's made from recycled plastic and it's also packaged in a thinner, lighter box made from less cardboard. It also includes a charger that's compliant with the Energy Star V standards. The standby mode sucks up less power, and the Naite comes wrapped in a recyclable sleeve that emits the unfortunate stale odor of "New Car Smell."
Yet the do-gooding phone does many things well. For instance, there's Sony Ericsson's typically sharp and bright display, easy navigation, and some substantial features like e-mail support, Google Maps, and an FM radio. Although the 2-megapixel camera is nothing worth writing home about, the Naite makes amends with a video recorder and photo and video editors.
Naites come in two colors: Vapour Silver, the classic black and silver color, and Ginger Red, for those who prefer more pizzazz. We evaluated the unlocked silver and black Naite using T-Mobile's service, but the features are the same on both models. The midrange feature phone is a strong showing for most casual users who aren't looking for a business device--and we guess the reduced carbon footprint doesn't hurt, either. The Naite sells for $159, which is very well priced for an unlocked phone.

Design
The two-toned candy bar Naite is an attractive, if slightly boxy, phone. It measures 4.3 inches tall by 1.9 inches wide by 0.5 inch deep; it sports a silver keypad and a screen that's bordered in recycled black plastic. In fact, the entire phone is made from recycled plastics sourced from water bottles and CDs--from the stripe of silver running the length of the Naite's spine to its black, vertically ridged backing. At 3 ounces, the Naite is light in the hand, but not particularly sturdy. It slips easily into pockets and purses.
At 2.2 inches, the Naite's screen is fairly generous for a phone of this type; it's about half its height. More importantly, it boasts Sony Ericsson's typically impressive sharpness and saturation with its 240x320-pixel and 262,144-color resolution. Even at 70 percent brightness, the screen is easily read in low and bright lighting. Though you can change the wallpapers and animated themes, you can't alter the font size.

Features
The Naite's address book holds 1,000 contacts, with seven possible numbers and an e-mail address per contact. You can't create caller groups, but you can initiate a conference call with up to five people. You can also assign a picture to a contact, but not a ringtone, which is a surprising omission. There's also no support for group calling, another common feature. The Naite has 18 polyphonic ringtones to choose from. There's a speakerphone option during active calls, but when silence is golden, you can mute all rings and turn on vibrate mode to cancel the noise.
In the organizer, you'll find a file manager, calendar, to-do list, notes, timer, stopwatch, calculator, and a password-keeper. There's also stereo Bluetooth, 3G support, push e-mail, and text and MMS. Voice command and media syncing through the MediaGo app are nice touches. As for mapping features, Google Maps for Mobile comes preloaded, and includes directions (but not the turn-by-turn navigation found in higher-end smartphones). Integrated Facebook and YouTube apps serve as a social networking bridge. RSS feeds and podcasts are also onboard.

SPECIFICATION AND FITUR SONY ERICSSON ELM

SONY ERICSSON ELMThe Sony Ericsson may be green at heart but it sure looks like a red hot package complete with imaging, connectivity and novel design. Makers are keen to ride the green wave and phones are rushing to catch up. It seemed Sony Ericsson's GreenHeart had a slow start. But after a nice and easy rehash and the no-frills Naite, the GreenHeart is getting a speed boost with the Elm and the Hazel. Eco-friendly materials are combined with top-notch features and the already must-have social networking.
The Elm is not the standard feature phone we've got used to seeing from Sony Ericsson. Its true power is well hidden inside and the exterior makes sure the Elm will take more than a casual look. This candybar packs all the connectivity you will ever need - Wi-Fi, DLNA, GPS receiver, Bluetooth, 3G support with HSPA and microSD card slot.

Sony Ericsson Elm at a glance:
-General: GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, UMTS 900/2100, GPRS/EDGE class 10, HSDPA 7.2Mbps
-Form factor: Candybar
-Dimensions: 110 x 45 x 14 mm, 90 g
-Display: 2.2" 256K-color TFT display, 240 x 320 pixel resolution
-Memory: 280MB integrated memory, hot-swappable microSD card slot (up to 16GB)
-UI: Proprietary Flash-based UI
-Still camera: 5 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash, geo-tagging, face detection, smile detection
-Video recording: VGA @ 30fps
-Connectivity: Wi-Fi with DLNA, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, GPS receiver with A-GPS and Wisepilot trial
-Misc: Splash-resistant body, accelerometer sensor for screen auto rotation, SensMe, Noise Shield, Clear Voice and Intelligent Volume Adaptation, social networking integration with homescreen Widget Manager, HD Voice Ready
-Battery: 1000mAh BST-43 Li-Pol battery

Surely, the specs above reveal the Elm's intention to give you a square deal besides the eco-friendly factor. In this quick preview we'll be trying to look beyond the promises the Sony Ericsson Elm is making. The handset we have is far from mature software-wise but the hardware is all there and the finish looks good. The trademark Sony Ericsson Flash-based UI is at its usual best but some of the promised extras will obviously have to wait for a more final unit and a proper review.
The Facebook integration is no news since the C901, but the Elm is keen to bring more - Facebook, Twitter and MySpace all a click away on your homescreen, courtesy of a novel widget system.

SPECIFICATION AND FITUR SONY ERICSSON SATIO

SONY ERICSSON SATIOSony Ericsson has finally launched the Satio, the phone it showed off back in February under the guise of Idou, packing the best of all its brands into one phone. But can the sheer range of gadgetry and a new OS be enough to lure customers back to the brand?
Not content with being leaders in cameraphone and multimedia technology, Sony Ericsson has decided to put the two Walkman and Cybershot brands together in the new Satio. This means an industry-leading camera, a full range of multimedia playback options and it's based on Symbian S60 5th edition to boot.
The overall feel of the handset is odd. Thanks to the sheer range of camera-related gadgetry on board the rear of the phone has a massive camera section bolted to the back, which makes it a little chunky.

But weirdly the phone didn't feel heavy at all – in fact we thought the battery needed to be put in, it was so light, but the power pack was snugly under the cover, so this is pretty impressive.
The Satio feels OK in the hand – it's not snug, but the 3.5-inch touchscreen (although sadly resistive rather than capacitive) is well positioned, and most of the functions are within a thumb's reach.
The front of the phone is very minimal – it's got a call, hang up and menu key, and that's about it. We would have quite liked to see a cancel/back button too, but that obviously wasn't on Sony Ericsson's agenda with the new Symbian OS it's packing.

In the box
The Satio is being tipped as a multimedia device, and to that end the box is filled with audio and visual goodies. We've already pointed out how very, very disappointed we are there's no 3.5mm headphone jack on the Satio, but Sony Ericsson has tried to temper that problem with a variety of headphone options in the box.
The connector also comes with a music controller, which works pretty well for both media and as a hands free unit. The bundled buds are of a slightly better quality than the usual pin-thick ones Sony Ericsson puts in the box, but we quickly changed these to some better options.

Key features
-3.5" 16M-color resistive touchscreen of 640 x 360 pixel resolution
-12 megapixel state-of-the-art autofocus camera
-LED and xenon flash, active lens cover
-VGA@30fps video recording
-Symbian OS 9.4 with S60 5th edition UI, spiced up with a home-brewed homescreen and media menu
-ARM Cortex-A8 600 MHz CPU, PowerVR SGX dedicated graphics accelerator and 256 MB of RAM
-Quad-band GSM support
-3G with HSDPA 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA 3.6 Mbps support
-Wi-Fi and GPS with A-GPS
-microSD card slot (up to 32GB)
-Built-in accelerometer
-TV out
-Stereo FM Radio
-USB and stereo Bluetooth v2.0
-Web browser has full Flash support
-Preinstalled Wisepilot navigation software
-Office document viewer

Main disadvantages
-Xenon flash is not adequately powerful
-The S60 5th edition UI isn't to the best in class standards
-No 3.5mm audio jack or a standard USB port
-No DivX or XviD support out-of-the-box
-No smart or voice dialing
-Playing flash videos in the browser easily depletes the available RAM
-No office document editing (without a paid upgrade)
-No stereo speakers
-No digital compass (magnetometer)

SPECIFICATION AND FITUR SONY ERICSSON AINO

SPESIFIKASI SONY ERICSSON AINOSony Ericsson are on the move recently and the Aino is very much part of the agenda. But living in the shadow of the Satio and X10 is not much fun we guess. So, the Sony Ericsson Aino is keen to live a double life. At first glance, it's a touchscreen PMP, but on a second look it's a regular slider phone with an extra big screen. It's not the ultimate PlayStation phone but it does have Remote Play, to wirelessly pair with Sony's PlayStation 3.
As far as feature phones go, the Aino has pretty much everything - excellent connectivity, full-featured navigation, a great camera, plenty of internal storage and a simple-but-snappy touch media menu.
By the way, don't let anyone tell you touchscreen functionality is limited to the proprietary Sony Ericsson multimedia menu. We were pleasantly surprised with Opera Mini, which seemed to quite agree with the Aino touch system. Touchscreen navigation is all there and it performed very smoothly. This means touch controlled Java games might work as well.
All right, this was just a single little secret revealed. Let's take a closer look at what else the Aino may be hiding there.

Key features
-3" 16M-color capacitive touchscreen, 240 x 432 pixels
-Quad-band GSM support
-Tri-band 3G with 7.2Mbps HSDPA, 2Mbps HSUPA
-8 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash; geotagging, touch-focus, face detection, image stabilization; VGA video recording @ 30fps
-Some degree of touchscreen functionality - touch-enabled media and camera interface
-Touch works in Java apps as well, e.g. Opera Mini
-Built-in GPS receiver with A-GPS; Trial version of Wisepilot navigation software
-Wi-Fi with DLNA
-FM radio with RDS
-Stereo Bluetooth 2.1
-microSD card slot
-Wireless Bluetooth headset with 3.5 mm audio jack and nice headphones, desktop docking station and 8GB microSD card in box
-Remote play for Playstation 3

-Main disadvantages
-No standard USB port
-No 3.5mm audio jack (but there's one on the Bluetooth headset)
-Touch control is limited to camera, gallery, multimedia players and some Java apps
-Media library updates very slowly in the touch media menu
-No DivX/XviD support
-No xenon flash
-No camera lens cover

Uncomfortable questions start to emerge though - the Remote Play feature doesn't really do much more than DLNA and is useless with anything but PlayStation3. The touch functionality sounds great but not having it in the built-in browser sucks.
But asking these questions is missing the point. If you owned the original PlayStation, then upgraded to PlayStation 2 and have the 3rd version sitting next to your BRAVIA set, well this love letter in the shape of Sony Ericsson Aino is addressed to you.
